The Return Home

Well this morning consisted of sleeping in, packing up our stuff, and making one last visit to a Nashville signature establishment, The Pancake Pantry. Of course, as Ben warned us it would have a line around the building, it did. So we waited for about 20-30 minutes prior to being seated. But once our orders came, we soon realized, as many other Nashvillians already had for the past 50 years of this fine establishment’s existence, that it was well worth the wait. We also met with Bob Williams for breakfast at the pantry, who did the recording of Immanuel’s choir for their CD. It was a great time with great company! So as we finished up our cakes and omelets, we said our goodbyes… Well truth be told, more like see you laters, and then we hit the road.

Just like the previous days, I of course have pics to accompany our escapades.

Well today at 24 minutes after high noon we, Jason Pamblanco, Brian Seagraves, Ben Hutto, and myself, left sunny Tallahassee and embarked on our road trip to Nashville, TN for the Song Discovery conference tomorrow. I’ll be posting some images from the trip on here.

“These are the Hands”

“These are the Hands” – Ryan Register

“These are the Hands” is probably one of my favorite songs I was ever given… I say given because I still feel to this day that the Lord blessed me by giving me those words to write down. It was a year long process of waiting verse by verse. I got the first verse idea in December 2009, and then the second verse came at the end of June 2010 while on a song writing retreat with my fellow bandmates from Immanuel. The third verse and chorus came about middle of November 2010. It was crazy to look back and see it, because although it took a year to pen the whole thing, each verse and chorus just about came out verbatim the first time that I sang them, each verse and chorus only took about 5-10 minutes to write.

The other cool part of the story is that the song fit perfectly with the Easter program at Immanuel this year. As I played the finished song for Jason, our music minister, he said that it was a perfect fit because the song was like it was sung from the point of view of Thomas (the disciple) and that the Easter program was also conveyed through the point of view of Thomas. So we blended it into the Easter program musical line up and it quickly became the title track of this years musical.

“Brighter”

This is a new song I’m still working on to be played at my church, Immanuel Baptist in Tallahassee, FL.  The song is largely based upon Matthew 25:34-40

34“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40“The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’

“Brighter” – Ryan Register

It’s for the most part complete, I’m just still working on some instrumentation parts and working on a bridge.  The technical info about this track is all drums and bass programmed using Propellerhead Reason 3.0, and all acoustic and electric guitars recorded in my house live, and vocals recorded live in my house as well.  Let me know what ya’ll think!
